Chinese electric-vehicle company Nio Inc. delivered 31,041 vehicles in the first quarter, with 10,378 of those deliveries in March, it announced over the weekend.
The quarterly delivery figure was up 21% from a year before but down from the 40,052-unit figure seen in the December quarter.
Nio’s U.S.-listed shares
NIO,
were off 0.2% shortly after Monday’s open.
Fellow Chinese EV company Li Auto Inc.
LI,
also posted first-quarter delivery numbers Saturday, disclosing 52,584 deliveries for the period, up 66% from a year before and up about 16% sequentially.
“We have commenced deliveries of Li L7, our five-seat flagship family SUV, and are pleased to hear from its first users that their satisfaction with the vehicle has exceeded their expectation,” Li Auto Chief Executive Xiang Li said in a release.
Li Auto shares were ahead 0.7% early in Monday’s trading.
XPeng Inc.
XPEV,
also had an update, announcing that it had delivered 18,230 units in the March quarter. That’s down from 34,561 deliveries in the first quarter of 2022 and from 22,204 in the December quarter.
Shares of XPeng were up 3.6% in Monday morning action.
U.S. EV companies have posted their delivery numbers for the quarter recently as well, with Tesla Inc.
TSLA,
delivering 422,875 vehicles, below the FactSet consensus, and Rivian Automotive Inc.
RIVN,
delivering 7,946 vehicles, roughly in line with the FactSet consensus.
