Gabriel Attal has been named as French prime minister, a day after the resignation of Elisabeth Borne, French media reported on Tuesday.
Attal, the 34-year-old education minister, will be the youngest prime minister the country has had, and its first openly gay prime minister.
French President Emmanuel Macron cannot run for re-election in 2027, and the reshuffle at the top is seen as a way of preventing him from becoming a lame duck.
