Broadcom Inc. and VMware Inc. expect to close their merger Wednesday, the companies said Tuesday morning, though analysts noted that the final approval from China came with conditions.
The companies had been waiting on China to approve the $61 billion deal, which was announced in May 2022, and there was some concern that they wouldn’t end up getting that final approval amid geopolitical tensions. On Tuesday, Broadcom AVGO and VMware VMW said China approved the merger.
