“The Golden Bachelor” may just get a rose of its own after such a strong series premiere.

ABC’s latest spin on the long-running “The Bachelor” series, this one focused on contestants in their 60s and 70s, ranked as the network’s No. 1 series premiere on Hulu — ever, according to ABC’s ratings report release. The ranking is attributed to the number of views after the first three days of streaming, which totaled 1.76 million.

“The Golden Bachelor” follows Gerry Turner, a 72-year-old widowed bachelor looking for love among more than 20 contestants, the oldest of whom is 75. Turner was married to his wife for 43 years before she unexpectedly died from health issues a month after closing on their dream home. In the premiere, contestants introduced themselves in many creative ways, including by riding in on a motorcycle, doing the chicken dance and delivering a profanity-riddled chant.

The spinoff is one of a kind, and a much different take from the typical reality shows where contestants look for love. “The Bachelor” and its other spinoffs, for example, often focus on contestants in their 20s and 30s.

The show celebrated the “strongest premiere” for any “The Bachelor” franchise series since 2021, with 5.26 million total viewers. The franchise includes series such as “The Bachelorette” and “Bachelor in Paradise.” The report cited the Nielsen Company and Hulu internal data for its figures.

In total, the show had 7.7 million total viewers when considering delayed cross-platform viewing, the biggest multiplatform audience for any “The Bachelor” franchise show in the last three years.

The second episode of “The Golden Bachelor” will air Thursday at 8 p.m. Eastern time.
